This page needs JavaScript switched on to build your document.

What this does

Type in your details, your client's details and what you are charging for. The invoice builds itself as you type, with the subtotal, discount, tax and total worked out for you. There is no account to make, no watermark, and nothing to pay.

How to use it

  1. Add your business details once. They are remembered on this device for next time.
  2. Choose one of five looks, and a colour.
  3. Fill in who you are billing, the invoice number and the dates.
  4. Add a line for each item: description, quantity and price.
  5. Add any discount, tax or shipping, and note how you want to be paid.
  6. Choose PDF, Word, Excel or another format below the form.

Save it in the format you need

When you are done, choose how to keep it:

  • PDF — ready to email or print.
  • Word (.docx) — opens in Word, Google Docs and Pages, if you want to change it further.
  • Excel (.xlsx) — opens in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers, with the totals as working formulas.
  • CSV — the line items, for any spreadsheet or accounting program.
  • Web page (.html) — a single file you can open in any browser.
  • Plain text — or Copy as text, to paste into an email.
  • Save to reopen later — a small file that brings the whole document back next time.
  • Print — choose Save as PDF in the print box to keep any language or alphabet.

Questions people ask

What should an invoice include?

Your business name and contact details, your client's details, a unique invoice number, the invoice date and due date, a clear description of each item with quantity and price, the total, tax if you charge it, and how to pay you. Rules on tax numbers and wording differ by country, so check what applies to you.

How do I number my invoices?

Use a simple running number such as INV-0001, then INV-0002. The Start a new invoice button adds one to your last number automatically.

Can I add VAT, GST or sales tax?

Yes. Type the name you use (VAT, GST, Sales tax) and the rate. It is worked out on the amount after any discount.

Can I use another currency?

Yes. Pick from 26 currencies, including dollars, pounds, euros, rupees and rand.

Can I add my logo?

Yes. Add a PNG or JPG and it appears at the top of the invoice, in the PDF, Word and web page files.

What is the difference between an invoice and a quote?

A quote says what you expect to charge before the work is done. An invoice asks for payment after. Both are on this site, and you can copy the same details between them.

Is anything I type sent to a server?

No. The document is made inside your browser. Your business details and the last document are remembered on this device only, so you do not have to retype them, and you can wipe them with the link under the preview.
