What this does
A credit note reduces or cancels an invoice you have already sent. Put in the original invoice number, list what is being credited, and save the note. No account and no watermark.
How to use it
- Add your business details once. They are remembered on this device.
- Fill in who is being credited.
- Put the original invoice number in the reference box.
- Add a line for each item being credited, with the price it was charged at.
- Save it as a PDF, Word or Excel file.
Save it in the format you need
When you are done, choose how to keep it:
- PDF — ready to email or print.
- Word (.docx) — opens in Word, Google Docs and Pages, if you want to change it further.
- Excel (.xlsx) — opens in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers, with the totals as working formulas.
- CSV — the line items, for any spreadsheet or accounting program.
- Web page (.html) — a single file you can open in any browser.
- Plain text — or Copy as text, to paste into an email.
- Save to reopen later — a small file that brings the whole document back next time.
- Print — choose Save as PDF in the print box to keep any language or alphabet.
Questions people ask
When do I need a credit note?
When you have overcharged, when goods are returned, when a job is cancelled, or when you need to correct a mistake on an invoice that has already been sent.
Should the amounts be negative?
No. Enter the amounts being credited as normal positive numbers. The document is titled Credit note, so it is clear the money goes back to the customer.
Can I credit part of an invoice?
Yes. Only list the items or amounts you are crediting.
Is anything I type sent to a server?
No. The document is made inside your browser. Your business details and the last document are remembered on this device only, so you do not have to retype them, and you can wipe them with the link under the preview.
