What this does
Type in an amount and pick a tax rate. It shows the price without tax, the tax itself, and the price with tax. You can go either way: add tax to a net price, or take it back out of a gross price.
Which way do I go?
Use Add tax when you know the price before tax. Use Take tax out when you have a total that already includes tax and you want to know how much of it was tax.

How do I take VAT out of a price?
Divide by 1 plus the rate. With 20% VAT, divide by 1.2. This calculator does it for you with the second option.
Why not just take 20% off?
Because the 20% was added to the price before tax, not to the total. Taking 20% off a total that includes tax takes off too much.
Are the rates up to date?
The presets are common standard rates. Rates and exceptions change, so check the current rate for your country and for what you sell. You can always type your own.
Is anything I type sent to a server?
No. The document is made inside your browser. Your business details and the last document are remembered on this device only, so you do not have to retype them, and you can wipe them with the link under the preview.
